to ask the Garibaldi Museum to remove the fraught statue of Captain Robert
Gray from its prominent place on Hwy 101 where it stands as a provocative relic of a racist past!
From 12-2 pm on Saturday July 24, 2021 RSET members will perform in flash mob style as multiple costumed Captain Robert Grays. We will apologize for his misdeeds to make clear that CAPTAIN GRAY IS NOT A HERO! His statue should be removed from its prominent place along the HWY 101 roadside, and be placed inside or near the Garbaldi Maritime Museum where the museum should have the courage to tell Captain Gray's complete and often shameful story.
On March 13, 2021, RSET organized a Covid19 Memorial to mark one year of living through the pandemic. Together we remembered loved ones lost, mourned experiences missed, and celebrated challenges overcome. Held at Sue Elmore Park in downtown Tillamook.
Thanks to Don Backman at the Tillamook County Pioneer for news coverage and lovely photos of this event.
Every Saturday from June 8 to Oct 31, 2020, Tillamook residents rallied in support of racial justice, in the aftermath of George Floyd's murder-by-cop. Held in downtown Tillamook where HWY 101 meets HWY 6. RSET formed out of these rallies.
